Detail The Concise Encyclopaedia of Lithuania Minor is an academic publication about Lithuania Minor, or Prussian Lithuania, which existed until the end of World War II. Situated in the north-eastern part of East Prussia, which in 1871 became part of the German Empire, this region was densely populated by Lithuanians. The Concise Encyclopaedia of Lithuania Minor offers a broad panorama of the Lithuanian culture of the region which preserved its originality despite the centuries-long influence of German cultural dominance and aims to show how the interaction of local and imported cultures imparted the region with highly characteristic features. This approach distinguishes it among other books on Lithuania Minor in English, German, and other foreign languages. The encyclopaedia comprises three parts. The first part presents general information about the region, focuses on the historical development of Lithuania Minor and highlights the Lithuanian presence in the region. The second part presents, in alphabetical order, the descriptions of the cities, towns and settlements of Lithuania Minor.
